Refresh data and recover imports
Choose the right refresh, diagnose blank rosters, and understand partial exports.
A refresh fails before importing
Transient EA session and league-information errors receive bounded automatic retries. If they still fail, /madden status shows the saved error. A linked EA account or an older successful batch does not mean the latest refresh worked. Check status before retrying; a server error alone does not prove you need to reconnect.
The connected member left the franchise
If EA no longer lists the saved franchise for the connected account, restoring that account's Madden league membership or reconnecting through a current member is required. A league staff member can run /madden connect, sign in with an EA account that is still in the franchise, select the same franchise, and refresh. This keeps existing league data. The bot never switches franchises automatically based on a matching name.
Choose the right refresh
/madden refresh scope:current-week fetches recent Madden data; scope:all-weeks fills full-season schedule/stat coverage. /league refresh redraws existing Discord cards from saved data; it does not fetch new Madden rosters. /trade refresh recalculates trade values and redraws trade cards.

Start with that league's roster coverage, not the real NFL roster. A partial EA export can leave one team's data missing while other teams work. A player's absence from an incomplete export is not proof of a release.
- Verify you are in the correct league, season and active team.
- Have staff inspect
/madden statusand refresh the current week. - If EA authorization expired, reconnect and retry the refresh.
- Check the refresh warnings and team coverage. Reload the roster or reopen the autocomplete list after a successful import.
- If one team remains empty, report the league, team, platform, refresh time and exact warning to the operator. Do not reset ownership or copy another league's roster to make the menu populate.
Use recovery tools deliberately
/madden recovery imports lists saved imports. sync-preview previews a saved batch; sync reprocesses the newest eligible saved import. Replay repairs interpretation of already received data; it cannot fetch a roster that EA never supplied.
export-url and rotate-export-token manage the backup Companion ingest link. Rotating invalidates the previous link; it does not renew EA authorization. Repeated refresh attempts are not a substitute for resolving a named connection or coverage error.
