Roles and permissions
Understand GM, commissioner, league admin, committee, Discord administrator, and platform-owner access.
League roles
GMs act for their assigned teams. Commissioners and co-commissioners handle league operations. A League Admin has staff dashboard access without needing a team and retains any existing team assignment. Trade Committee membership grants trade voting access; it is not general league administration.
Platform owner means the FranchiseOS operator, not your league commissioner. The internal source reference and platform controls use that separate owner identity. Commissioners still receive the entire public command library and workflow guides.
Discord and website checks differ
Some Discord staff commands accept Discord Administrator permission, configured staff roles, or saved commissioner/co-commissioner/League Admin membership. Website actions generally require saved league membership and the appropriate application role. A Discord role alone may not grant all website controls.
Use /league staff assign for persistent league staff membership. /settings staff-role maps a normal Discord role to supported bot staff checks; it does not create full website staff membership. If Discord works but the staff dashboard does not, inspect the saved application role instead of granting Administrator indiscriminately.
Bot permissions and hierarchy
Place the bot's role above the roles it must assign or edit. It needs the channel, message, thread, role, nickname, and expression permissions required by your enabled features. A server owner's nickname cannot be changed by the bot.
Use /league checkup after permission changes. Read the specific warning: saved database state can be correct while a Discord role, nickname, or notification failed.
